The Community Forward Fund would like to extend our hearty congratulations to board member Monica Patten, who has been appointed a Member of the Order of Canada. Monica has been a leader in the voluntary sector for decades, and has been instrumental in advancing the cause of community development throughout the world. In addition to her work with CFF, highlights of Monica’s career include serving as President and CEO of Community Foundations of Canada and as a Mentor within the prestigious Trudeau Foundation.
“Monica Patten is an inspiration to work with,” says CFF CEO Derek Ballantyne. “No one in this country knows more than she does about what it takes to develop sustainable, effective community foundations, and her wisdom and guidance have been invaluable as we continue to expand our operations.”
The Order of Canada is among the highest honours a Canadian civilian can receive. It recognizes a lifetime of achievement, dedication and service to one’s country. We could not be happier for Monica and, while we know that as much as she deserves this honour for her past work, it is clear that she is only just getting started changing our country for the better.
